for Checking Account Holders

Due to changes in banking legislation, we are required to obtain your approval before we can consider payment of your ATM withdrawals and everyday debit card purchases that may create an overdraft in your checking account.

An everyday purchase occurs when you use your debit card at the grocery store checkout, restaurant, doctor’s office, dry cleaners, pharmacy, gas station, or any other one-time debit card transaction or ATM withdrawal. Banking regulations requires us to obtain your consent before the bank can authorize payment of overdrafts for such transactions.

Disclosure: An overdraft occurs when you do not have sufficient funds in your account and we pay it anyway. We can cover your overdrafts using our standard overdraft practices that come with your account. We also offer overdraft protection plans, such as a VIP credit line (credit approval required) or link to a savings account, which may be less expensive than our standard overdraft practices. As a part of our standard practices, we do make discretionary decisions to authorize and pay overdrafts for checks and other transactions using your checking account. We will not authorize and pay overdrafts for ATM withdrawals and one-time debit card transactions unless you consent (i.e. Opt-In). Even with your consent, we pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize payment, your transaction will be declined. If an overdraft is paid, an overdraft (OD) fee of $25.00 per transaction will be charged at a maximum daily limit of $125 overdraft fees per day. No overdraft fees will be charged if the total overdraft balance in your account is less than $10. No action is needed if you do NOT wish to authorize us to pay overdrafts for ATM withdrawals and everyday debit card transactions. If funds are not available at the time of purchase or ATM withdrawal, your transaction will be declined. If you opt in to payment of overdrafts for ATM and one-time debit card transactions and change your mind, you can revoke your authorization at any time. The bank requires reasonable notice of two business days to act on any opt in or opt out request. You are not required to opt in to the payment of overdrafts for recurring debit card transactions (such as utility or insurance payments that are set up pay from your account automatically). Those transactions may continue to be covered as a part of our standard overdraft practices.
